Egypt has been under reign of Husni Mubarak for about 3 decades now. Despite of what Egyptians want, he has kind of just been ruling the country on his own without acknowledging what his people want. Everything changed recently when Egyptians actually started to rebel from their own leadership. It all started from social networks like Facebook and Twitter. To think that social networks could spark something to go down in history is pretty amazing. Egyptians started from social networks and gathered followers and started their riots and protests in the streets of Egypt. Many were injured but it was important for Egyptians to fight for freedom. I mean who wants a ruler that listens to nothing his people want? After 18 days of the Egyptians putting up their best fight, Mubarak finally decides to step down. Tears of joy spread all across the country as the Egyptians finally felt "free."
I think it was so surprising to see such a dedicated group of people fight for what they want. Even when their government tried to hurt them and block internet social networking websites, they always found a way to fight back. They never gave up which to me just shows such a great bunch of people who truly just want the best for Egyptians as a whole. Thirty years of being ruled by someone who doesn't really care for the country to me is sad. I don't think any country should have to deal with such an unfair ruler. Just like how it is in the United States, I believe it should be majority rules. Something else that I don't like is that they are thinking about putting Mubarak's son up for election despite the fact that his son does not want to run for election. I think that if they elect his son the Egyptians would be making a huge mistake because he may potentially just make the same mistakes his father had been making for 3 decades of ruling.
Its amazing how they used the social networks that every one uses everyday to organize something as big as a revolution i didnt know this. This event is surely going to change everything for them After 30 years of one ruler the people really need a change and im glad he resigned.
ReplyDeleteThe people are working to keep democracy at least this time they would be able to vote for a ruler they see fit, but there is still a lot of work a head of them currently they trying to get rid of Mubarak's followers because many of them are still involved in local governments. If the people want to maintain a democracy they have to be open to other peoples religions because religion is causing a conflict similar to race.
ReplyDeletethe egyptian president brought the revolution on him self because of all the bad things he would do to the people and after 30 years i belive he was abusing his power by not having to let go of his power.
ReplyDeleteIts amazing what power can do, but its more amazing to see egyptians united as one and willing to fight their unfair ruler. After all the series of cruel events and deaths they still had the strength to keep fighting, achieving their goal of forcing Mubarak to resign at last!
ReplyDeleteits so crazy how they used social networks. it must have been horrible having the same ruler for such timex especially since he didn't care about his people
